Who We Are
Novel Works was founded by Matthew and Kristi Brown, with the belief that Architecture is a social art. While focused on bespoke residential design, we set out to develop results tailored to their place, client and time. We design homes that focus on refined craft, enduring quality, and richness of experience. Novel compositions of space made evident through forms in light, engaging all the senses. Memorable.
Matthew Brown, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, is a registered Architect with over 30 years of experience. His portfolio of design work includes a wide range of project types, sizes, and complexities; from high-rise office buildings, high schools, and science research facilities, to multifamily residences, civic structures, and community master plans. Matt is deeply interested in art, the creative process, the painstaking development of skill through craft, and how we experience a sense of Place.
Kristi Brown, LEED AP, NCARB, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Architecture. She has used her 30+ years of experience to develop a rich portfolio of design work, including schools, churches, office buildings, large retail complexes, and custom residences. Kristi is passionate about art, our connection to nature, and synthesizing forms and materials to create places of meaning and memory.
